Today is Martin Luther King Jr. day, where we remember the man who was instramental in the commencement of the integration of America and reminding the world that, regardless of the color of anyone’s skin, we are all people worth equality and freedom. Martin Luther King Jr. was just one man. One. Who had an idea and a passion for what he believed in and the courage to pursue it. With only a dream, he took on the world, and changed it completely. People may have called him crazy, a lunatic, for believing in something greater than himself, but he worked hard everyday and made that dream a reality. I’d like to think that everybody has a little of Martin Luther King Jr. in them. We all have dreams, things we want to accomplish, things that can change the world if we only have the courage to pursue them. Mine is to live in a world full of kindness, where people give, love, and remind others everyday of the importance of their existence.
A lot of times in pageants the judges ask you “if you could have lunch with anybody, dead or alive, who would they be and what would you say?”
I would say Martin Luther King Jr. I would thank him for setting an example for young people today and teaching them that their dreams have the power to completly alter the entire world if they work hard everyday and make their ideas a priority.
And to top it all off I would tell him that my name is Cedar Chambers, and my dream is to make the world a better place. And I will, one day at a time.
